Collaboration Series No. 4

by Neal Bodenheimer

Pinhook was founded with the ethos of sourcing great barrels of whiskey and taking a creative and unique approach to blending and proofing. The Collaboration Series reflects our commitment to exploring the ever growing craft whiskey movement and “pinhooking” barrels based on experience, quality, a little patience, and a bit of luck.

This edition showcases a vibrant nose of sweetgrass, butterscotch, tobacco and nutmeg leads to a hearty palate of brûléed sugar, baked pear, spearmint, and clove.

Edition No. 4 – Neal Bodenheimer

In this fourth edition, Sean returns to his hospitality roots with Neal Bodenheimer, our 2025 collaborator. Neal Bodenheimer is a celebrated bartender, bar owner, and author. In 2009, he opened his first bar, Cure, in his native New Orleans, pioneering the city’s craft cocktail scene. He later opened four more bars and co-authored Cure: New Orleans Drinks and How to Mix ’Em. Neal and Sean Josephs, Pinhook co-founder and master blender, became friends in the New Orleans bar scene when Sean owned Kenton’s, his third restaurant. Inspired by their shared roots in hospitality, they crafted this extraordinary rye whiskey to give back to the bartending community through the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, for which Neal serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Directors.

“From the start, my goal and guiding light was to find a spirit that would be a standout on its own or in a classic New Orleans cocktail. I think we achieved just that; I hope you agree.”

A collaboration rooted in hospitality

Collaboration No. 4 is a celebration of community, creativity, and craft. Made from Pinhook’s custom rye mashbill and aged 6 years, this limited release of just 2,000 bottles was blended live at Tales of the Cocktail 2025 by Master Blender Sean Josephs and James Beard Award-winning bartender, bar owner, and author Neal Bodenheimer. The result is a layered, expressive rye that captures the spirit of the bar, balanced, original, and rooted in hospitality. Five dollars from every bottle sold supports the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, helping educate and empower the global bartending community.
