A Classic Manhattan Recipe

The world’s most famous cocktail after it was invented in New York City’s Manhattan Club around 1880, this seasoned sophisticate has held its own for more than 140 years. The Manhattan’s mix of American whiskey and Italian vermouth, enlivened with a few dashes of aromatic bitters, is timeless and tasty—exactly what a cocktail should be.

Single Serving

Ingredients

2 oz.    Pinhook Rye
1 oz.     Cocchi Vermouth di Torino sweet vermouth
3 dashes    Angostura bitters
1    Maraschino cherry 


Instructions

  1. Combine sweet vermouth, bitters and rye in a mixing glass.
  2. Add ice and stir until chilled, then strain into a coupe.
  3. Garnish with cherry.

For a Crowd

Ingredients

1,500 mL    Pinhook Rye
750 mL    Cocchi Vermouth di Torino sweet vermouth
.75 oz. dashes    Angostura bitters
1 jar    Maraschino cherries


Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients and dilute with 4 ice cubes.
  2. Funnel back into the Pinhook/appropriate bottles and chill.
  3. Serve 3 oz. of batch in a coupe glass garnished with a cherry.
